First Airplane Ride! Portland!

So....Kaden and I were lucky enough to get to spend some time with Andy a few weeks ago on a business trip to Portland Oregon! Can I say Beautiful! It was amazing! We picked a great time of year to go....the weather was wonderful and the leaves were changing! It was so fun to have a little Mommy-Kaden time on our way there...and then meet up with Daddy! This was Kaden's first Airplane ride...I know he is only 4...but he loved it!

One of our firsts stops was at the beach where Kaden chased around Thousands of Seagulls! No...none of them pooped on his head! The beach was so calm and relaxing! Beautiful!

Next we hit up the Tillamook cheese factory! Ate lots of cheese...and some ice cream!

Next was the Zoo! Kaden's favorite part! The zoo was really great. Because Portland is so green the zoo felt like a huge forest!

And Of course the Childrens Museum! They had a Huge LEGO attraction...we couldn't miss it!

Daddy loved the Legos too!

And of course a station to get messy....

We had so much fun...and when I got home I found out we have a Museum like this in Salt lake! I had no idea!

And with it being Thanksgiving....I guess I should say...I am very very Thankful for these two boys!

This week we Celebrate!

This week is a very special one for us! First we Celebrate our 5Th wedding anniversary! And 6 years ago this is the very week we started dating! I honestly can say I am married to the MOST amazing man. If I had to list all of the things I love about him...it would take all day...and lots of words. But to sum it up...He is caring, intelligent, funny, handsome, he keeps me grounded, he takes care of us financially, & spiritually. I am so thankful to married to a man who honors fatherhood and husbandhood(that's really not a word!) He takes seriously our marriage and being together forever. I don't know how I got lucky enough to meet him...but I am so thankful I did, and so thankful to be married to him! I love you hunny! Happy 5Th!

Secondly and so important! Kaden is Celebrating his 4Th Birthday today! We Received the amazing news we were expecting a baby only 3 months after we got married. It was a belated Christmas gift! We knew we wanted to have a baby right away...and so we were thrilled! He has been part of our lives almost as long as Andy and i have been a part of each other! We love him! He has such a sweet personality and is so concerned about others...even at such a young age! He is so smart...learning how to talk at age 1, and not stopping since! There is not a quite moment at our home...and if there is, Kaden manages to make some noise or song to break that moment! He is learning to read and put letters together and just started soccer and preschool this last week! I am so thankful for the two wonderful boys in my life. If this is the way my life is meant to be...With just Me, Andy and Kaden. I am one Lucky girl! I truly mean that!

So in May Kaden had Tube set #2 put in his ears and his Adnoids out! I hated surgery the first time...and the second time wasn't any better! But its worth it! No more ear infections! We are thrilled!

FOURTH OF JULY!
For the 4th of July we went up to Park City! Andy and I went up the first night just the two of us for my 25th Birthday.... while Kaden had a rock'in time at Andy's Parents! Then we went and got him and did some fun things! Our hotel was at the Canyons where there was an awesome firework show! We also went to the Heber Valley railroad and did a pretty awesome train ride!

Our New Addition! So I have been asking Andy for a dog forever! He finally agreed we could start looking...! So that same day the 4th of July, I found a cute 4 year old dog on KSL! So...we are almost done with our Adoption Portfolio! One of our final steps was a recent family photo! So we looked around at different places and different people and finally decided to go with fotofly in Draper! For this time of year...yucky snowy and cold...inside pics were the way to go! They did a great job, for a great price! Kaden did so well! There wasn't a single pic I didn't love of HIM...and for a 3 year old that's pretty good!

Due to multiple ear infections the last 6 weeks...we had to go for set #2 of tubes this week for Kade. He also had to have his adnoids out! He did really well! He took it like a champ.. Even though he tried to rip out his IV at the hospital. As we were at the hospital I couldn't help but be so thankful this is our only visit. It's hard to watch your baby be poked and hurting...My hat goes off to Mothers everywhere that deal with this on a monthly, weekly or daily basis...amazing.

Adoption!

So after a couple of challenging years of miscarriages and Infertility Andy & I have felt really prompted to submit our adoption papers! I am so excited for what the future might be...and It doesn't matter to me how we complete our Eternal Family, just that we do! And that we do it the way the Lord wants us to. At this point we feel its very important for us to begin this process. The more I learn about infant adoption, the more excited I get.

We were told in our adoption class that more than 60% of adoptions that became final this last year were through a friend, of a friend, of a friend. So we are asking for everyone's support and listening ear. By the end of January all of our paper work will be done and our file will be posted on the LDS adoption website, as well as a couple other places. If you know of someone now and we are chosen before all of our paper work is done...(which isn't likely, although I would welcome it...) it's totally fine. So in other words if you know ANYONE that is considering adoption today or anytime in the future, please have them contact us, we would be very grateful!

I'm adding two links of an LDS adoption story from Utube. Watch it if you would. They both really touched me, what a self-less gift! Thanks for taking your time..I really am so blessed to have such supportive family and friends!

Narlins & Florida!

So Andy and I had the chance to go back to where he served his mission. New Orleans! It was a really good opportunity to meet some of the people he taught and to hear him speak Spanish with the members there! We ate at some AMAZING places...I lost 15 lbs before we went...and seriously gained all of it back! Terrible I know!

We also went to Florida for a couple days! It was so fun...being in the gulf and the water about 85 degrees...amazing!

And for those of you that read my blog a few weeks ago! I am doing lots better! Thanks for all of the positive comments and phone calls! I can't help but be so grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life! Test so far are showing good results! So we remain optimistic!

If I may just start out by saying Thank you...to all of those wonderful people in my life that have been such a support! I know many of you look at this blog, and I hope you know what an important part of my life you are. These last few months have been a challenge. But from dinners people brought, to kind notes, to flowers, to gifts, to cookies, to phone calls, and everything else I was blessed to receive...THANK YOU! I know its not easy to know what to say to someone that's going through a rough time, and I know it can be uncomfortable for you! But thank you...for doing the uncomfortable...because its made a huge difference to me!

And this is my Joy!

This month has had some really fun things happen. My brother Justin...just returned from his mission in the Baltic. He learned the Lithiuaian Language and is as skinny as a string bean! But I love him! He is for sure one of my best friends! On the Flip side My other brother Matt, who turns 19 TODAY!..will be leaving to Scotland for his mission in 2 Weeks! He will be missed. Another best friend of mine!

Santa was a hit at our house this year! Kaden kept telling us all he wanted were trucks and train's for Christmas....and I'll tell ya that's exactally what he got!

It was Hilarious! We set up the remote control train before he came down, we turned it on and as he walked down the stairs he was like "oh my goodness, oh my goodness, a train a train, it's a train.." over and over....It was the funniest thing I have ever heard and I have it all on video!

So needless to say it was a very fun Christmas..!

For those of you that don't know every year since I was born we have had a Martin Family tradition. The Friday after thanksgiving we drive up to Vernal Stay in a classy hotel..(Vernal yeah right) Swim, go to dinner, maybe see a movie, and do some shopp'in! This year was pretty much the same! Kaden is a year older, of course, so he was into it a bit more. He loved riding the 4-wheeler...which we did most of the time...while dad found us the Barker Family Christmas tree! It is a tradition I love...and will never stop doing!

So I bought this costume for Kaden Last year....but it was way too big. So I decided to keep it and have him wear it this year. Well a couple weeks ago I went and tried it on and him and of course It was very snug, esp with clothes under it. So I decided I really wanted him to be a lion so I would just order him a new LION Costume online! I paid way too much for it, but it was super cute! So I decided I wanted to go get his pictures taken at Target.

Now Kaden HATES getting his picture taken...lets just say his 2 year old pictures pretty much don't exist cuz he was so bad. So I begged my friend Jodi to come help me and I took a gamble. Well he was in a very happy mood so I got to Target and started to put on his Costume and I realized I had brought the smaller and definitely not as cute Lion costume! OF COURSE! I was like 20 Minutes from my house in Centerville so I couldn't just run home and get the right one! Plus Kaden was being so so so good! So we decided to take them and this is how they turned out! I think they are way cute! But if anyone wants to barrow a lion Costume I have two!

So September for us is a very special month. Most of our major life events together have happened in September. For example

September 10, 2005 Andy and I started Dating.
September 7, 2006 we were married!
September 4, 2007 Kaden was born!

So this last week was a huge week of reflection for us. I met Andy while working at Discover Card. We were pretty much set up. I can remember the amazing feelings I had when I was with him, even from our first date. I am so thankful for the amazing man he is!

So to celebrate, we went to Carrabbas! One of our most favorite places to eat!

It's been 2 years since our little Kaden was born! He was born on Sept 4 2007 via C-section! He is such a blessing to Andy and I! I can't imagine life without him!

We had a blast for Kaden's 2nd Birthday! We took him and some of his friends to MY GYM for a Birthday party! He played, ate cake, opened tons of gifts, and had a blast!

The fallowing week we took him to Chucky Cheese! We wanted to go and do something with just Kaden, Mommy & Daddy! He loves all of the cool cars he can ride on! He also loves the tokens and pushing them in each and every ride!

So for Christmas Andy's parents bought us tickets to Disneyland! We had a blast! It was so much fun riding down with them, and seeing them with Kaden! Unfortunately our Camera broke just as we arrived and so Jordan and Kinsale were kind enough to let us borrow theirs! THANKS SO MUCH.

The park also takes pictures for you, but of course they charge you a ton of money for them! But they were so cute of Kaden I did buy a couple! It wasn't a great day for Andy and I for pictures, We didn't look our best! It was our last day there, we were pretty worn out.... but Kaden always is always so cute. But I'm bias what can I say!

It was so cute to see him with Tigger and Pooh. He just kept wanting to touch them! As you can see from this picture!

To my suprise he did really well in lines! He is such a good baby!

By the end Kaden was pretty worn out too!

Cars is Kaden's favorite movie! We watched it probably 15X's while we were getting to and from Cali!

So for Christmas my parents bought us Tickets to go see the Brodway Musical Wicked! Oh my gosh, it was amazing! From the music to the acting, it was unbelieveable! Even if you don't like Musical's you would love this one, of course tickets are pretty hard to come by I hear!

So Kaden's favorite friend moved away a couple of weeks ago and he still walks over to there house and knocks on their door saying "Kelsey Kelsey Hello?" (luckily no one lives there yet, we do need to break the habit or our new neighbors might think we are weird, I mean know we are weird) Anyway We miss them but are Happy they will be closer to there family!

This last Weekend my cousin's little girl Makayla came and stayed for a couple days! Kaden and her had a blast! I enjoyed having a little girl for a couple days too! Doing her hair and dressing her in cute clothes, it was pretty fun! Although Kaden thinks her name is Kelsey and called her that all weekend, she didn't mind a bit! Thanks Marci and Caleb for letting us play with her this last week, we had some fun memories!

Sick Sick Sick of Winter!

So it has been a little while since I had the chance to Blog! To be honest there hasn't been much to Blog about! Kaden has been in and out of the Dr.'s office with ear infetions since New years and in the Hospital with pneumonia. He is doing much better but it has been a crazy and scary last couple of months! One of the new reasons I HATE WINTER! But he doing really well and is still so much fun!

While he had pneumonia we let him sleep with us so we could watch his breathing. Although it seemed Cute and fun at the time to have him with us it was later the worst thing we could have done! He now wants to sleep with us every night! No no, not going to happen!

After his bath this morning I couldn't find him so I searched the house calling his name and usually he will hear me and come! But he was playing hide and seek. I finally found him sitting in our living room just chill'in! He had climbed up on the couch with his blanket and was LAUGHING HIS HEAD OFF! He knew he had tricked me!

We Love You Grandpa!

My Grandpa Marchant passed away Friday January 9Th, 2009! I just wanted to write a post because he was an amazing person, and someone that should be remembered! Grandpa was always someone who supported his Grand kids. I can remember as a little girl the support he showed at my piano recitals, plays, my soccer games and much much more. He was there as Andy & I went through the temple, & most important he was one of my first Hair cuts! I will miss the silly remarks he would make as I would cut his hair, and constantly telling me how handsome he was when we finished.

He was an amazing member of the church, caring for and loving those around him! We love him, and know that he is still with us and that we will be with him again!

ChuckE Cheese!

So on New Years We had to find something fun to do! The weather wasn't wonderful....and well lets be honest Andy was Board! So we decided to take Kaden and go to ChuckE Cheese! It was a blast! They just built a new one in Layton, so it's a little less getto than the Salt Lake Locations! But Andy Kicked my Butt in Shooting Basketballs and Kaden Loved the little kid rides! We ate pizza, drank lots of Root Beer....overall had a good old time!

Kaden Goes to a class once or twice a week at a place called "My GYM" It's like a Mommy and me class, or this week it was Daddy and me. He LOVES IT! Andy was off work this monday so he went with us!

Last Weekend Kaden, Andy & I went to park city to spend the weekend! We did TONZ of shopping and ate at some really fun places!

Every Year We have an annual Martin Famliy Christmas Tree hunt! We go with my dad's side of the family and we have a BLAST! We stay the night in Vernal, Swim, eat lots of Junk, ride 4 wheelers, roast hot dogs and mello's, and of course bring home the perfect "Barker Family Tree"

I'll be honest it was freezing and for a lot of the time Kaden was either mad he couldn't get out of the car, or he couldn't move because he was all bundled up. Can't you tell by his face?

So we gave him a marshmallow and it seemed to be better from then on out! Nothing a little sugar won't fix!

Daddy and I had lots of Fun with Kaden! It was a fun little weekend getaway! Lots of fun memories!

Kaden was exhausted after our trip! He fell asleep without even finishing his bottle!If you know Kaden, that means he is really tired! He loves his milk!

So I thought it would be a wonderful idea to buy cute little Halloween treats and keep them on my table in the living room. Kaden has never really touched anything on that table so at the first of October I decided to put a little dish of candy out there. Well i would catch him from time to time eating something and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what it was. Well the other day I am doing dishes and it gets really really quiet? And all Mom's know, that's not good. Well i find Kaden shoving handfuls of M&M's into his mouth! Besides the fact that he could have choked...it was a pretty funny scene to behold.

Well yes the time has finally come and I, Brooke Barker, Graduated From Beauty school this last week! No longer a Beauty school drop out! I new i would get done someday i am just glad that Someday...is TODAY!

I just want all of those people who have supported me to know how much i appreciate it. It was probably one of the hardest things i have even done. Having a family and a 60 hour a week job is kinda crazy but i am grateful for everyone that sent me little things a long the way and little comments of encouragement!

Thanks to Kaden and Andy who were of course my biggest support! I don't know what i would have done with-out them! I love you all!

Well i don't have a lot of Pictures from Kaden's 1st Birthday yet, but i thought i would post what i have! We had A Sesame Street 1st birthday party for Kaden at the park by our house! Lots of people came and brought him some really cute gifts! Thanks Everyone!

Camping

So we just got back from our first Camping trip with little Kaden! It surprisingly went very well! We slept in a tent and of course had an air mattress and heater, that's what i call roughing it! Kaden slept well but with Andy and I most of the time! We had a good old time! He had his first 4-wheeler ride and touched his first fishy! He is an amazing baby to put up with his parents crazy ideas of fun!
